Bali Dog Association Switzerland Ends Collaboration with Bali Dharma Satwa Aseman.
After careful consideration, Bali Dog Association Switzerland has decided to formally step away from its collaboration with Bali Dharma Satwa Aseman.
This decision comes after growing differences in values and priorities — with the focus shifting away from true animal welfare.
The shelter, originally built in 2019 by Björn Medernach and Beatrice Ojeda Pedrosa, was created to provide a safe haven for Bali’s street dogs. Björn, as the founder, dedicated his personal savings, time, and heart to ensure the shelter’s success and, more importantly, to improve the lives of the dogs.
Björn was meant to be recognized as a founder in Bali Dharma Satwa’s legal documents — a recognition that would honor his essential role. However, it has become clear this was merely a tactical move, leading to him being pushed aside once the shelter began gaining success.
This is not only unfair to Björn, who built and nurtured the shelter from the ground up, but it also disregards the original mission: to prioritize the welfare of Bali’s street dogs above all else.
Bali Dog Association Switzerland stands by Björn Medernach and his unwavering dedication to Bali’s dogs. While we are stepping away from this collaboration, we remain committed to advocating for the dogs — ensuring they receive the love, care, and safety they deserve.
It’s essential to remember why this shelter was created: for the dogs, not for personal gain or politics.
